Floods, bushfires, cyclones ands earthquakes in the southern hemisphere, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis in the northern.
Tens of thousands of people missing, dead, displaced, or just discombobulated.
You cannot turn on the TV without some talking head or other babbling on about the social or economic consequences.
Yet, in the midst of all this misery, two young musicians are rising above themselves and producing a CD called "From our Heart to your Heart", the proceeds from which will go to the Young Heart Foundation, to support children unlucky enough to need such massive surgery so early in their lives.
Here are the two playing a piano concerto, and then a cello piece, both of which will be on the CD.
